GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Collaborates with the Grants Manager/Director/Compliance Officer to

assist in the Research, Development and Compliance Monitoring of Grant

Opportunities to encourage the economic and social well-being of the AlabamaCoushatta Tribe. This position focuses on researching literature dealing with the

availability of grant funds from the governmental agencies, corporations, and

private foundations. Deadlines are critical - a professional, well-organized, time

and effective work ethic is crucial.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the discretion of the Grants Manager, assist in the development and

coordination of grant-funded programs for the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe

of Texas

• Assists in the development of proposed program goals and objectives

• Researches program requirements and fund sources from various entities

• Assists in the grant application process

o Preparation in accordance to specific program requirements

o Submit to the respective funding agency or foundation in a timely

and complete manner

o Maintains Grants Summary Spreadsheet on a daily basis

o Maintaining and updating physical grant files and compliance

reports

o Arranging and Coordinating Grant Preparation/Project and Awards

meetings with Department leaders as directed by the Grants

Manager within a timely manner

• Assists in the preparation of grant components, including but not limited

to narratives, budgets, justifications and resolutions in preparation for

review and approval by the Tribal Council

• Coordinates meetings with representatives of funding sources in order to

finalize details of proposed applications

• Assists Grants Manager with the evaluation, monitoring, and maintenance

of the grant programs master file

• Informs Grants Manager of compliance/reporting issues and periodic

reports required of grant-funded programs

• Prepares periodic program reports to be reviewed by Grants Manager to

be submitted to the General Manager and Tribal Council

• Answer telephone and greet visitors

• Maintains Grants department calendar

• Coordinates travel and training for the Grants Department; prepares and

submits travel request forms, obtains cost estimates for travel and training

and maintain travel balance; prepares and submits post-travel reports to

appropriate departments

• Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Excellent writing and oral communication skills

Ability to multi-task and maintain attention to detail

Must be able to operate modern office equipment

Must be able to develop and maintain an accurate filing system

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and request

clarification when needed

Ability to be courteous and pleasant in a professional setting

Ability to read financial balance sheets with comprehension

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Excellent research skills to identify potential sources for funding

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the

supervisors and co-workers

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have high school diploma or GED. Associates Degree in Business

Administration or some college preferred

• Proficiency in writing skills

• Must be able to pass a writing and computer literacy test

• Must have a valid Texas driver's license

• Must pass a drug test and background check
