GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Housing Director is responsible for the overall management and administrative

functions for all of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Housing Authority (ACIHA)

programs and personnel in accordance with the Housing & Urban Development

(HUD)/Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act

(NAHASDA) Regulations and the Policies and Procedures of the ACIHA of the AlabamaCoushatta Tribe of Texas. Tie incumbent will provide direction and coordination of the

overall affairs of the ACIHA in accordance with the policies of the ACIHA Board of

Commissioners (BOC) in order to develop and operate a sufficient quantity of decent,

safe, and sanitary homes and to provide employment opportunities for low income

families living within the ACIHA's area of operations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain appropriate plans for ACIHA activities including providing

an adequate supply of new housing, maintain existing housing, and achieve

financial stability

• Provides information required to enable the BOC to set policy,monitor staff

performance,and properly fulfill its legal and financial responsibilities as the

Tribally Designated Housing Entity (TDHE) for the Tribe

• Supervises the ACIHA staff and ensures adequate staffing for operations

• Works with accounting and fee accountant to produce accurate reports

• Cooperates with all tribal members concerned with the development and

management of tribal housing to promote an understanding of the program

among all members of the community

• Develops innovative strategies for land management development of Tribal

housing

• Plan and provide for adequate maintenance services to ACIHA's owned housing

units,office and community

• Plan and supervise housing development activities

• Coordinate overall housing public relations,including representation of the

ACIHA at national and local meetings and perform speaking engagements

regarding Indian Housing matters.

• Must follow ACIHA policies and procedures, HUD regulations, legal

resources and federal and state laws and regulations, in accomplishing

assignments.

• Attend trainings and/or education opportunities regarding NAHASDA and

other housing programs

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Board of Commissioners

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Associates degree with at least 5 years of management experience in

public administration, business administration, or a related field

• Experience in NAHASDA preferred

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Willing to travel off the Reservation on a regular basis

• Must be bondable

• Must have a valid Texas Driver's License

• Must pass a drug test

• Must pass a thorough background check
